United States Apnea Association, USAA
USAA is a federal 501 (c) 3 non profit organization that represents freediving in the Untied States. USAA is the national organization within the International Assoication for the Development of Apnea (AIDA) www.aidainternational.org. As such, USAA is responsible for sanctioning all competitive freediving within the US and recognition of all US National Records. USAA is also responsible for selecting and fielding the US Freediving Team and representing US Freediving internationally.
The USAA advocates for freediving safety in all aquatic apnea activity and all forms of freediving. Competitive freediving is USAA's primary responsibility, however, only through safe breath hold activities can continued access to pools and support be assured. Our goal is to work toward zero apnea accidents in all apnea activities.
Promoting freediving as a recreational and life long activity is central to USAA's mission. Freediving is not just for elite world class athletes. It is a fun and easy to access sport that is fun for children and adults of all ages.
USAA is a members based organization. We rely on our members and support from our sponsors to build and sustain US freediving.
