AIDA Team World Championships 2006 - Hurghada, Egypt

Day 7

Thursday, December 7th: Constant Ballast Day 1 (second attempt)

Juliana competed today, attempting a 60m dive.  The warm-up did not bode well, as her lingering cold gave her some equalization problems.  On her dive, Juliana had trouble clearing at ~55m: she fought her way to the plate, made it back up with her tag, but had a blackout that disqualified her.  We all were disappointed, but none more than Juliana.

Rob spent the day volunteering as a safety diver to give him a chance to get used to the water and competition set-up.  Deron, Jessica, and Matt were in the water as well, helping Juliana and other athletes.  The rest of the team spent the day practicing statics.

Nothing would be possible without the safety freedivers.

Deron takes a turn as a safety freediver.

Kaz came all the way from Japan to help with safety.

Kirk shows that the organizer has a sense of humor with his training line safeties. Going Up?
